ELL means "English Language Learner." Any student enrolling in school for the first time (KDG), or for the first time in Indiana, is required to fill out a Home Language Survey. Students that speak a language other than English are screened with a short test to see if they qualify for language services. Language services are provided through in-class support or through small-group time with an ELL teacher. Each year, students in the ELL program are tested using WIDA ACCESS. This helps to measure their progress in all four domains of language: listening, speaking, reading, writing.
